The best season is (usually) from end of October till end of April

From end of April to the end of August there is the daily possibility of some quite heavy rain showers with thunder & lightning, but there are always sunny spells between the showers. From the end of August until October is our monsoon season, which means longer but softer rainy spells. Unfortunately however we can not guarantee the weather :-)

We are located directly on the sea-shore, by the Had Kai Mook beach, a beautiful
rocky part between the two main beaches of Ko Chang; one the famous Hat Sai Kow (translates to white sandy beach) and the other Klong Prao beach. Both beaches are about 1,5 km away and easy to reach by public songthaew (collecting taxis) which pick up about 100 m from our resort on the main road, or by motorbike or bycicle. Even walking is possible if you have two long "healthy" legs :-)

Being in a quiet location is one or our extra special features, because as we've said in our previous answer above, we are very close to the big beaches (with their sometimes quite noisy night parties and discos). We are far enough away so you hear only the typical and soothing sounds of nature. Actually many of our guests have changed and come to us from the busy beach areas for this very reason.

Snorkelling is available directly in front of our resort, but for the more
popular places you have to go on a boat trip.

We have our own excellent restaurant, but there are plenty of other restaurants in and around Had Kai Mook(mostly by the main road) within 500m walk, but try Penny's restaurant first, we are sure you will come back.

If it is possible for our cook to cook something suitable, we promise you will get it.

We really don't recommend taking any tablets in advance. We never use them ourselves and since we've been here on the island, we never met anyone who got malaria. In 2001, the German tropical institute (Tropeninstitut Tuebingen) checked and found Ko Chang malaria free!! Of course it can never be 100% guaranteed, but we would say the risk of malaria is 10 times less than being involved in a bad traffic accident!

We have our own motorbike rental service, so that's easy to arrange.

No, because this is impossible for rented motorbikes. There is definitely no
insurance in Thailand who will insure that. If somebody tells you a different
story, be careful and check it out!
To rent a motorbike you have to deposit your passport (a copy should be
enough, but many don't accept copies, we accept copies from our guests). In case of an accident or the bike is stolen, because insurance in not available we regret that the renter is 100 % responsible.
Once again, we canonly repeat that these rules are the same all over Thailand.

Compared to the big tourist islands like Samui or Phuket,(not to mention popular places in Europe or the Caribbean) Ko Chang is still very safe. The biggest problem could come from the tourists themselves being too careless.

Yes, there are plenty of ATM machines all over the island. Two banks (Siam City Bank and Bangkok Bank) have now opened sub-branches, and more will follow for sure.
